Mein erstes Mal war 2021. Und ich kann mich genau an das Gefühl erinnern, in der Lobby zu sitzen und die Menschen zu beobachten, die im Hotel ankamen und auf dem Weg zum Einchecken schon die ersten Bekannten und Freund:innen begrüßten. Es war eine besondere Stimmung. Es war diese pandemische Zäsur, die einerseits die Welt wie eingefroren hat wirken lassen und andererseits Entwicklungen auf die Spitze getrieben hat, die wir uns kaum hätten vorstellen können und deren Ausmaß wir auch jetzt noch nicht ermessen können.
So saß ich also da. Als Newbie in der Latex-Szene. Und ich war nicht wenig überrascht, als mich die Ersten persönlich begrüßten und herzlich mit mir plauderten.
Ich habe mich sehr schnell sehr wohl gefühlt.
Und dieser erste Eindruck vom Easter Fetish Meeting und den Menschen, die mir dort begegneten, ist in mein Herz geschrieben. Das ist meine Erzählung vom EFM.
Aber was erzählen Menschen über das EFM, die nicht nur in der Lobby sitzen und plaudern? Die nach dem EFM schon mit den Vorbereitungen für das nächste EFM beginnen? Und dies ehrenamtlich tun? Denn das EFM ist eine NON-PROFIT Veranstaltung. Alle anfallenden Kosten werden über Spenden finanziert.
Also habe ich diese Menschen gefragt. Und Rubberator und StarCollector haben mir stellvertretend für das Team des EFM geantwortet – so, als säßen wir in der Lobby des Hotels in Essen.
Welche Bedeutung hat das EFM für euch? Das war meine erste Frage.
Und ich bekam Antworten, die zunächst sehr unterschiedlich zu sein schienen.
StarCollector begann seine Erzählung mit der Schilderung eines Schlüsselmoments seines Lebens, in dem ihm wirklich bewusstwurde, dass ihm die Bewertung durch andere nicht mehr wichtig war. Nicht das, was andere Personen über ihn denken, hat Bedeutung, sondern was er selbst über sich denkt. Es ist sein Leben, das er lebt. Er verletzt niemanden damit, dass er Latex trägt. Er lebt einfach seinen Traum. Und diese Erkenntnis war befreiend für ihn. Und ich spüre, dass es dieses Erleben ist, von dem sein Tun beim EFM getragen wird – etwas davon weiterzugeben, andere auf ihrem Weg zu unterstützen oder darin zu bestärken. Vor allem dann, wenn Personen, glauben, dass sie in ihrem nahen Umfeld, ihr Sosein nicht offen zeigen können So ist ihm z.B. die Erinnerung an die Äußerung eines Ehepaars um 70 Jahre noch lebhaft in Erinnerung: „Unsere Familie meint, wir sind im Sauerland“.
Rubberators Antwort erscheint im Vergleich dazu zunächst relativ nüchtern: „Arbeit.“
Ein Moment der Stille entsteht…und in dieser Stille entsteht etwas anderes. Etwas sehr Zartes.
Hier muss ich kurz das Szenario unseres Beisammenseins schildern.
StarCollector, Rubberator und ich sitzen leider nicht gemeinsam in der Lobby des Hotels in Essen. Wir sitzen vor den Kameras unserer PCs. Was aber auch schön ist, denn so können wir uns sehen, obwohl viele Kilometer zwischen uns liegen. Deshalb ist es mir möglich, manch kleine Regung in den Gesichtern und der Haltung meiner Gesprächspartner wahrzunehmen. So wie jetzt.
„Arbeit.“ sagt Rubberator also. Und was ich sehe, ist eine kleine Veränderung in seiner Haltung – sein Oberkörper richtet sich nämlich auf und weitet sich ein bisschen. Und als er weiterspricht, weiß ich warum.
Denn mit „Arbeit“ ist nicht etwa die gemeint, die er erledigt und die ihn anstrengt. Er spricht nämlich etwas an, was ihn zu berühren scheint: Es ist das gemeinsame Tun.
Auf der äußeren Ebene geht es darum, dass das Hotel hergerichtet werden muss.
Auf der inneren Ebene geht es darum, dass da Menschen zusammenkommen, die etwas verbindet.
Menschen, die tief in sich eine Regung verspüren und die den Mut hatten und haben, dieser Regung zu folgen. Die die Entscheidung getroffen haben, dass sie sich diesem Traum hingeben wollen.
Menschen kommen zusammen. An einem Ort. In einem Hotel. Für mehrere Tage. Menschen, die sich vorher bereits kannten. Aber auch Menschen, die völlig neu sind in dieser Szene. Und wir sprechen von einer Szene, die in vielen Bereichen dieser Gesellschaft immer noch nicht offen handeln kann.
Das berührt auf vielen Ebenen das, was Community ist. Community ist eine Gestalt. Eine Gestalt ist etwas, die uns alle braucht. Und das ist das Zarte, das hier anklingt, wenn Rubberator von Arbeit spricht. Denn er erwähnt all die vielen helfenden Hände, die einfach da sind. Und er erzählt zum Beispiel dies: Es gab 2022 den Wunsch des Hotels, dass die Stühle vor Ort mit Handtüchern vor Silikonöl geschützt werden sollten (wir alle kennen das Thema). Das hat nur bedingt funktioniert. Also musste eine Idee her. Die ward auch schnell gefunden: Stuhlhussen. Ganz einfach.
Was nicht so einfach war – mal eben 200 Stuhlhussen aufziehen.
Und er erzählt, wie schnell sich Personen meldeten und sich darum kümmerten.
Dieses Beispiel mag banal klingen. Doch ich finde, dass darin etwas Entscheidendes liegt. Hussen aufziehen mag nicht glamourös sein. Doch es ist bedeutsam.
Und das ist der Geist des EFM:
Du kannst glamourös sein. Du musst es aber nicht. So gibt es keinen Dresscode – nur eine Regel: Nacktheit ist verboten.
Alle sind willkommen.
Jeder Mensch hat das Recht, da zu sein.
Jeder Mensch ist schön.
Das Team des EFM spricht hier eine Einladung an alle Personen ab 18 Jahre aus. Es möchte einen niederschwelligen, inklusiven Raum gestalten, in den sich auch Personen wagen können, die sich noch am Anfang der Entdeckungsreise ihres Fetischs befinden.
Hier soll ein Gestaltungsrahmen kreiert werden, der allen zur Verfügung steht.
Das bezieht sich beispielsweise auch auf die Gestaltung des Programms, auf die Workshops, die Party, die Bustour, alles, was am Pool passiert u.v.m..
Und auch hier ist non-profit der leitende Gedanke. Keine der Personen, die einen der Programmpunkte gestaltet, etwas organisiert, dafür die Verantwortung übernimmt, sich etwas ausdenkt oder einen WS anbietet, bekommt Gage. Die Ideen kommen aus der Szene für die Szene. Und das Orga-Team hat großes Interesse daran zu erfahren, was die Menschen interessiert. Deswegen geben sie auch Fragebögen aus und freuen sich über jede konstruktive Rückmeldung.
„Wir sind ein vielfältiges Team mit vielfältigen Kompetenzen.“ erzählen Rubberator und StarCollector. Es würde auch mal über die ein oder andere Rückmeldung oder ein Problem diskutiert werden. Letztlich ginge es aber darum, gute Lösungen für das Gelingen des EFM zu finden. Das sei immer das gemeinsame Ziel, das sie nicht aus den Augen verlieren wollen.
Dazu gehört noch ein wesentlicher Faktor.
Vor Ort sind auch Menschen, die nicht zur Szene gehören, für die das Hotel ihr Arbeitsplatz ist. Und es liegt in der Verantwortung aller Anwesenden auch diese Beziehung.en gut zu gestalten. Und so wie ich höre gibt inzwischen sogar Momente der Wiedersehensfreude auf beiden Seiten. Es gibt Mitarbeiter:innen, die sich wünschen, während der Ostertage eingesetzt zu werden. Das ist natürlich nur für die möglich, die bereits 18 Jahre alt sind.
StarCollector und Rubberator schildern mir die ein oder andere Geschichte, die sich im Lauf der Zeit ereignete und ich kann mir vorstellen, dass sie auch in die informellen Chroniken des Hotelpersonals eingegangen sind. So ist das mit dem EFM – so vielfältig wie es ist, so vielfältig sind die Erzählungen.
Und jede dieser Erzählungen darf sein.
Vielleicht ist es das, was für mich die poetische Kraft des EFM ausmacht.
Und das Erleben, dass Menschen sich darauf einlassen, ihre Zeit, ihre Energie, ihre Hingabe her zu schenken, um vielen anderen Menschen eine gute Zeit zu bereiten.

About the poetry of NON-PROFIT
My first time was in 2021. And I can vividly remember the feeling of sitting in the lobby and watching people arrive at the hotel, greeting acquaintances and friends on their way to check in. It was a special atmosphere. It was this pandemic turning point that, on the one hand, made the world seem frozen and, on the other hand, drove developments to extremes that we could hardly have imagined and whose extent we still cannot comprehend.
So there I sat. As a newbie to the latex scene. And I was more than a little surprised when the first people greeted me personally and chatted warmly with me.
I quickly felt very comfortable.
And that first impression of the Easter Fetish Meeting and the people I met there is etched in my heart. That is my story of the EFM.
But what do people who don’t just sit in the lobby and chat say about the EFM? Those who start preparing for the next EFM right after the EFM is over? And do so on a voluntary basis? Because the EFM is a NON-PROFIT event. All costs incurred are financed by donations.
So I asked these people. And Rubberator and StarCollector answered on behalf of the EFM team – as if we were sitting in the lobby of the hotel in Essen.
What does the EFM mean to you? That was my first question.
And I got answers that seemed very different at first.
StarCollector began his story by describing a key moment in his life when he truly realised that other people’s opinions no longer mattered to him. It’s not what other people think of him that matters, but what he thinks of himself. It’s his life he’s living. He’s not hurting anyone by wearing latex. He’s simply living his dream. And this realisation was liberating for him. And I sense that it is this experience that drives his actions at EFM – to pass on something of this, to support others on their journey or to encourage them in it. Especially when people believe that they cannot openly show their true selves in their immediate environment. For example, he vividly remembers the comment made by a couple in their 70s: ‘Our family thinks we’re on a holiday in the Sauerland.’
Rubberator’s response seems relatively sober in comparison: ‘Work.’
A moment of silence ensues… and in this silence, something else emerges. Something very delicate.
Here I must briefly describe the scenario of our gathering.
Unfortunately, StarCollector, Rubberator and I are not sitting together in the lobby of the hotel in Essen. We are sitting in front of our PC cameras. But that’s also nice, because it means we can see each other even though there are many kilometres between us. That’s why I can perceive every little movement in the faces and posture of my conversation partners. Like now.
‘Work,’ says Rubberator. And what I see is a slight change in his posture – his upper body straightens and expands a little. And as he continues speaking, I know why.
Because ‘work’ does not mean the work he does and which exhausts him. He is referring to something that seems to move him: it is the shared activity.
On the outer level, it’s about getting the hotel ready.
On the inner level, it’s about people coming together who have something in common.
People who feel a deep stirring within themselves and who had and still have the courage to follow that stirring. Who have made the decision to devote themselves to this dream.
People come together. In one place. In a hotel. For several days. People who already knew each other. But also people who are completely new to this scene. And we are talking about a scene that still cannot act openly in many areas of society.
This touches on what community is on many levels. Community is a gestalt. A gestalt is something that needs us all. And that is the delicate thing that comes across when Rubberator talks about work. Because he mentions all the many helping hands that are simply there. And he tells us, for example, that in 2022, the hotel wanted the chairs on site to be protected from silicone oil with towels (we all know the issue). That only worked to a limited extent.
So an idea was needed. It was quickly found: chair covers. Quite simple.
What wasn’t so simple was putting 200 chair covers on.
And he tells how quickly people came forward and took care of it.
This example may sound trivial. But I think there is something crucial in it. Putting on covers may not be glamorous. But it is significant.
And that is the spirit of the EFM:
You can be glamorous. But you don’t have to be. There is no dress code – just one rule: nudity is prohibited.
Everyone is welcome.
Everyone has the right to be there.
Everyone is beautiful.
The EFM team extends an invitation to all persons aged 18 and over. It wants to create a low-threshold, inclusive space where even people who are still at the beginning of their journey of discovery of their fetish can venture.
The aim is to create a framework that is accessible to everyone.
This also applies, for example, to the design of the programme, the workshops, the party, the bus tour, everything that happens at the pool and much more.
And here, too, the guiding principle is non-profit. None of the people who design one of the programme items, organise something, take responsibility for it, come up with ideas or offer a workshop receive any payment. The ideas come from the scene for the scene. And the organising team is very interested in finding out what people are interested in. That’s why they hand out questionnaires and welcome any constructive feedback.
‘We are a diverse team with diverse skills`, say Rubberator and StarCollector. Sometimes they discuss one piece of feedback or another, or a problem. Ultimately, however, the aim is to find good solutions for the success of the EFM. That is always the common goal that they do not want to lose sight of.
There is another important factor.
There are also people on site who are not part of the scene, for whom the hotel is their workplace. And it is the responsibility of everyone present to maintain good relations with them. And from what I hear, there are now even moments of joyful reunion on both sides. There are employees who want to work during the Easter holidays. Of course, this is only possible for those who are already 18 years old.
StarCollector and Rubberator tell me a few stories that have happened over time, and I can imagine that they have also entered the informal chronicles of the hotel staff. That’s how it is with the EFM – as diverse as it is, so are the stories.
And each of these stories is valid.
Perhaps that is what constitutes the poetic power of the EFM for me.
And the experience of seeing people commit their time, energy and dedication to giving many other people a good time.
